About Airspace Development

Airspace development refers to the creation of new homes in the ‘air-rights’ on top of existing buildings, by usually one or two additional storeys. By utilising the existing rooftops, a huge number of new homes can be built with minimal disruption to existing communities and the London skyline – an exciting prospect in a city where the supply of land and homes is limited.

The ARAD Charter

A unified voice for developers and home builders involved in the development of airspace, the Association of Rooftop & Airspace Development (ARAD) is an independent, non-profit organisation, established to promote good practice and lobbying for its member’s interests and endeavours to deliver homes at both a national and local level. Find out more about our Charter and the Association’s founding principles.

“A key objective of ARAD is to provide a vocal lobby to ensure that experiences of members within the industry are heard by government policy makers, thereby helping to shape and influence national policy and guidance.”
