ARAD in the news

Following the unveiling at the end of May, ARAD has enjoyed a warm reception from key industry media with a number of articles covering the launch.

Property Week wrote: Airspace finds room at the top: a decade ago, it was rarely used term, let alone a fully fledged sector. Now, Property Week can exclusively reveal that airspace development is about to get its very own trade body.

The Association of Rooftop and Airspace Development (ARAD) is set to be launched. It acts as “a unified voice for developers and associated stakeholders involved in the development of airspace”, according to a spokesman. Founded by developers Apex Airspace, Click Above, Fruition Properties and Upspace, ARAD represents the coming of age for upwards extension of residential buildings at scale, which is seen by many as a valuable contribution to solving the housing crisis, especially in dense urban environments where land is scarce.

Estates Gazette also wrote: Airspace developers aim high with new collective; a group of airspace developers have joined forces to ensure standards in development ahead of an anticipated uptick in rooftop development.

Apex Airspace, Click Above, Fruition Properties and Upspace have launched the Association of Rooftop and Airspace Development(ARAD).

The group aims to create best practices and specialist support for developers, following the permitted development right to allow upward extensions of two storeys without the need for a planning consent. The founding partners advised the 2020 PDR for upwards extensions and have experience of larger schemes in the capital through the planning process. ARAD will promote innovation, lobby for members’ interests and help to unlock housing at scale across the UK.

ARAD is also extremely grateful to Show House, Development Finance Today and The Construction Index for highlighting the launch. We look forward to further engaging with the industry to help meet our mission of unlocking high quality development
